Enjoy an All-Inclusive vacation with a twist.
You get to live in a fully furnished, fully equipped, 2-bedroom apartment in a gated, residential complex - complete with pool, and nightly security .
You get to live among Dominicans. Greeting and passing them in the hallways. Meeting and chatting with them by the pool. Seeing the parents and kids leave for, and return from work and school respectively.
Hearing the kids play after school.
You get to see the sights, hear the sounds, and sample the daily life of Dominicans.
You get to:
You get all meals - 3 meals per day - breakfast, lunch, and dinner, however all meals are authentic Dominican meals, at least 1 of which meals is prepared daily (in front of you, if you wish) in the kitchen of your apartment.
You get Dominican snacks and desserts to accentuate your culinary experience.
You get fresh fruit in season daily, and juices from said fruits to enjoy every single day of your vacation.
You get all drinks - Dominican beer, wine, and rum - as well as vodka, gin, whisky, brandy, and champagne to tickle your palate - and you get to prepare and mix your favorite drinks to your liking.
You get to experience, and to explore Punta Cana from the view of a local.
You can do the touristy stuff if you would like, but the excursions (which you pay additional for) which are available with the Culture Trip give you access to the non-touristy places where the Dominicans go - such as to:
an undeveloped beach where you are possibly going to be the only people on the beach - have you ever been to a beach with no beach chairs, no tanning people, no tourists, and where you have had the beach all to yourself?
a river where the locals swim - and they swim in regular clothes like pants and t-shirts, no bikinis nor swim suits, where they bring their food and drinks in the water with them, where the river becomes a place to just hang out
spend some time with a Dominican family, in their home, sharing a meal with them, and learning about them and their lives
go dancing at the neighborhood corner shop - the colmado - which is where the locals assemble on evening and weekends
go shopping but not at the ritzy malls, but in the little shops that only locals know about.
Punta Canada offers you the ability to immerse yourself in another culture, to experience what someone else's life is like, to leave your comfort zone and to embrace another perspective - but only for a week.
The Culture Trip offers:
all-inclusive Dominican meals and drinks
for periods of 8 days and 7 nights (1 week at a time)
in a 2-bedroom apartment (double occupancy, but can sleep up to 4 people comfortably)
at a cost of US$350 per person per day.
(be aware that this is the Dominican Republic so part of the overall experience is perhaps having no electricity or no water from time to time - and having to learn how to cope with same - just as Dominicans have to.
Your US$350 per person, per day cost provides you with authenticity - a culturally, real experience:
A. Your Living Situation
the apartment which you will call home for a week is an apartment in a complex in which Dominicans live (you will be living among, and in the midst of Dominicans - and not surrounded by other tourists)
This is not a 5-star, luxury, beachfront resort with restaurants, facilities like gyms and spas, and 24-hour staff.
This is a simple apartment, with simple, rustic yet comfortable furnishings. This is the real, everyday, living situation of regular Dominicans.
Did you come on vacation to the Dominican Republic to meet, to greet, to talk with, and to learn about the people, the lives and lifestyle of other tourists from Canada and other countries around the world or to interact with Dominicans?
At a resort, you are surrounded by tourists - everywhere you look, there will be tourists.
Not with The Culture Trip - nowhere you look, will there be tourists - in fact, you will be one of the very few, if not, the only tourist on vacation, and staying at the complex.
B. Your Eating Situation
you will be eating the same foods which Dominicans eat for breakfast, for lunch, and for dinner - prepared by a Dominican, in the same way, with the same spices, ingredients, and loving care and attention as they would in the kitchen of their own home, in some cases, in front of you, in the kitchen of your apartment - so you will taste the true flavor of Dominican cuisine.
Of the more than 200 all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana,
of the more than 2,000 restaurants which call those all-inclusive resorts home,
there are no restaurants - not 1 single restaurant - not a buffet restaurant, and not an a la carte restaurant
A. which provides Dominican foods for all 3 meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner, every single day - Monday to Sunday
B. which prepares food just for, and only for, you
C. which has a chef dedicated only to you - cooking for, and catering to - your dietary needs, and gastronomic desires, and pleasure
D. which has a chef who comes personally to your room (apartment in this case) and cooks for you, and in front of you, on the stove, in the kitchen of your apartment, at least one meal each and every day of your vacation
With The Culture Trip, you have an a la carte restaurant - the kitchen and dining room of your apartment, and an accompanying chef who will do just that.
Co-incidentally, at an all-inclusive resort, the buffet restaurants:
prepare foods for tourists from all over the world, so the fare is basic, and with an international flair and appeal.
prepare foods for literally hundreds of guests, consequently, the foods lose some amount of their quality, authencity, and their flavor in favor of quantity.
There is no substitute for home cooked food - which is what you get with The Culture Trip.
